Abstract
The field experiment in sugarcane was conducted to evaluate the performance of clone CoC 08336 for cane yield and CCS yield along with national checks. The present study consists of three yield evaluation trials viz., Advanced Varietal Trial- plant- I, Advanced Varietal Trial- Plant-II and Advanced Varietal Trial – Ratoon. Observations were recorded in all the three trials for cane yield (t.ha-1), sucrose (%) and CCS yield (t.ha-1). Overall performance of the clone CoC 08336 in all the three AVT trials was 116. 73 t/ha, which was 10.75 % increase over the check variety CoA 92081. The proposed clone CoC 08336 was found to be top performer for CCS yield (15.77 t/ha), which was 11.20% increased over the best check variety. The clone CoC 08336 was found to be better for sucrose per cent (17.68 %) and it was 4.31 % increase over the check (CoC 01061). The clone 08336 exhibited superior performance for cane yield, CCS yield and red rot resistance. Hence, the early maturing sugarcane clone CoC 08336 could be proposed for new variety release after testing in Adoptive Research Trials.
